Things To Consider

At VZ Direct, we approve each machine listing before it is publicized, but please be aware that sales / purchases happen outside the control of Vander Ziel Machinery (VZ Direct). Please learn from our experience and follow these guidelines.

For Buyers

  1. Verify the Seller
    • Check the seller’s profile and review.
    • Be cautious
  2. Inspect the Machine
    • Request detailed photos and videos showing the machine in operation.
    • Ask for maintenance records and any service history.
    • If possible, arrange an in-person or third-party inspection before purchasing.
  3. Understand Pricing & Total Costs
    • Factor in additional costs such as rigging, shipping, sales/use taxes.
    • Clarify payment terms and avoid upfront full payments unless dealing with a verified seller.
  4. Use Secure Payment Methods
    • Always verbally verify banking information with a trusted contact.
  5. Check Delivery & Logistics
    • Confirm who is responsible for rigging, shipping and delivery costs.
    • Ensure the machine is properly packed and insured during transport.
    • Get a written agreement on delivery timelines and conditions.
  6. Understand the Return & Warranty Policies
    • The machines on VZ Direct do not carry the warranty and return privileges that machines listed through Vander Ziel Machinery do; Please inspect thoroughly before purchase.
    • Get everything in writing before making a purchase.

For Sellers

  1. Provide Clear & Honest Descriptions
    • Include detailed specifications, condition reports, and high-quality images.
    • Be upfront about any defects or repairs needed.
    • Clearly state what is included in the sale (attachments, manuals, etc.).
  2. Set a Competitive Price
    • Be prepared to negotiate, but know your bottom line.
  3. Screen Potential Buyers
    • Verify the buyer’s identity and ask about their intended use.
    • Be cautious of buyers who rush the process or ask for unusual payment methods.
    • Avoid dealing with buyers who offer significantly more than your asking price.
  4. Use Secure Payment Methods
    • Prefer bank-verified transactions.
    • Only release the machine after payment is confirmed.
  5. Machine Removal
    • Negotiate and define who will be responsible for loading, trucking, and offloading.
    • Define pickup hours
    • If buyer will be onsite, consider getting a certificate of insurance naming seller as additional insured.
    • Get signed confirmation of receipt from the buyer.
  6. Document Everything
    • Keep a record of all communications, invoices, and agreements.
    • Get a signed bill of sale that includes terms and conditions.
    • Retain proof of payment and delivery in case of disputes.

We work hard to make this a safe marketplace to connect buyers and sellers. If you see something suspicious, please let us know.
