At VZ Direct, we approve each machine listing before it is publicized, but please be aware that sales / purchases happen outside the control of Vander Ziel Machinery (VZ Direct). Please learn from our experience and follow these guidelines.
For Buyers
- Verify the Seller
- Check the seller’s profile and review.
- Be cautious
- Inspect the Machine
- Request detailed photos and videos showing the machine in operation.
- Ask for maintenance records and any service history.
- If possible, arrange an in-person or third-party inspection before purchasing.
- Understand Pricing & Total Costs
- Factor in additional costs such as rigging, shipping, sales/use taxes.
- Clarify payment terms and avoid upfront full payments unless dealing with a verified seller.
- Use Secure Payment Methods
- Always verbally verify banking information with a trusted contact.
- Check Delivery & Logistics
- Confirm who is responsible for rigging, shipping and delivery costs.
- Ensure the machine is properly packed and insured during transport.
- Get a written agreement on delivery timelines and conditions.
- Understand the Return & Warranty Policies
- The machines on VZ Direct do not carry the warranty and return privileges that machines listed through Vander Ziel Machinery do; Please inspect thoroughly before purchase.
- Get everything in writing before making a purchase.
For Sellers
- Provide Clear & Honest Descriptions
- Include detailed specifications, condition reports, and high-quality images.
- Be upfront about any defects or repairs needed.
- Clearly state what is included in the sale (attachments, manuals, etc.).
- Set a Competitive Price
- Be prepared to negotiate, but know your bottom line.
- Screen Potential Buyers
- Verify the buyer’s identity and ask about their intended use.
- Be cautious of buyers who rush the process or ask for unusual payment methods.
- Avoid dealing with buyers who offer significantly more than your asking price.
- Use Secure Payment Methods
- Prefer bank-verified transactions.
- Only release the machine after payment is confirmed.
- Machine Removal
- Negotiate and define who will be responsible for loading, trucking, and offloading.
- Define pickup hours
- If buyer will be onsite, consider getting a certificate of insurance naming seller as additional insured.
- Get signed confirmation of receipt from the buyer.
- Document Everything
- Keep a record of all communications, invoices, and agreements.
- Get a signed bill of sale that includes terms and conditions.
- Retain proof of payment and delivery in case of disputes.
